Action On Climate

We’re making decarbonization a key part of our business

Taking action on climate change is one of the biggest challenges facing our planet today and a major focus of our industry. The very nature of the work we do — connecting farmers to consumers to deliver essential food, feed and fuel to the world — requires a deep understanding of the environment and market demands around us. It means we must face the realities of a changing climate and food insecurity, as we work to minimize our impact on delicate ecosystems while meeting the needs of consumers and communities.

With the urgency of climate action greater than ever, we are committed to doing our part to find tangible solutions to the crisis, and are scaling up our ambition more than ever before.

Our Science-Based Targets

We’re building a climate-focused mindset into everything we do, and it’s unlocking major new opportunities for Bunge. In 2021, Bunge announced our science-based targets (SBTs), validated by the Science Based Targets Initiative with the goal to reduce GHG emissions. Our SBTs are a natural outcome of the work we're already doing, but will also raise our level of ambition for the years ahead.

Regenerative Agriculture

Regenerative agriculture practices, which involve protecting and restoring soil health to help capture more carbon from the atmosphere, play an important role in our efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our supply chain. Bunge partners with farmers to support regenerative agriculture practices, empowering them with the tools and resources they need to take on these important conservation efforts. Our promotion of cover crops and regenerative agriculture programs in multiple geographies around the world helps to reduce nitrogen loss on farms, supports biodiversity, waterways and natural wildlife - all while working to address climate change. Ultimately, these efforts not only make food production more sustainable today, but help to ensure healthy supply chains and enhance food security for generations to come.

Biodiversity and Environment

We’re reducing pressure on ecosystems and natural resources by setting targets to reduce our intensity use of water, waste and energy. These ten-year goals are on track for delivery in 2026.
