Stove donations empower shea collectors

In April 2021, Bunge Loders Croklaan donated 200 stoves to women in the Tamal area. These stoves which use 40% less firewood compared to their traditional three-stone fire cook stove will help more than 1,300 female shea collectors parboil their shea kernels more efficiently.

The stoves were donated as part of the Sustainable Shea Initiative with GSA, Nuts4Growth and Bunge Loders Croklaan, which trained women on parkland protection, business and warehouse management and cooperative development. Additionally, three warehouses were donated and 7,000 trees from alternative fuel wood species were planted.
