Promoting Fair Labor
As a leading member of Brazil's business community for more than 100 years, Bunge is committed to operating in a socially responsible and ethical manner.

We ensure equal opportunity for all of our employees and provide a safe working environment, competitive compensation and benefits, and programs designed to promote employee health, wellness and quality of life.

Fair Treatment of Farm Workers
Bunge sources agricultural commodities from thousands of farms throughout Brazil. In our contracts with agricultural suppliers, we require strict legal compliance, including adherence to all applicable labor and environmental laws, and insist on the fair treatment of employees.

Bunge condemns forced labor and other human rights violations. We are a signatory of the National Slave Work Eradication Pact developed by the Ethos Institute and the International Labour Organization (ILO) and endorsed by the Brazilian government, civil society and other companies.

Bunge has incorporated the tenets of the pact into our business practices.

We cross reference our commercial agreements against the Brazilian government’s list of farms that commit labor abuses. We will not do business with properties named on the list until they have officially demonstrated that working conditions meet Labor Ministry standards. In the case of current suppliers that appear on the list, we will seek only to collect outstanding debts and will not enter into new commercial agreements until it is officially verified that they have taken corrective actions and are in compliance with the law.
