Approach to Biofuels
Governments around the world have called for increased production and use of biofuels. Bunge considers itself to be a food company first. We take a measured approach to biofuels that leverages our core areas of expertise and existing assets.

In the biodiesel and corn-based ethanol industries, our primary role is to supply raw materials and services through our global network of agribusiness operations. We see promise in sugar-based ethanol, and we plan to become an integrated player in the sugar value chain.

Ethanol
Bunge originates corn used to produce ethanol in the U.S. through our North American agribusiness operations. We are minority partners in a small number of corn ethanol plants that are being developed near our current U.S. facilities.

We recently acquired our first sugarcane mill and ethanol production facility, Agroindustrial Santa Juliana in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

Biodiesel
Bunge supplies energy producers with vegetable oils used to make biodiesel. We are a minority investor in some biodiesel plants near our agribusiness facilities in Europe, the U.S. and Argentina.
