current Environmental Goals

In 2009, Bunge established its first global goals for reducing emissions, water and waste to demonstrate our commitment to making measurable progress in our environmental performance. We published our performance in early 2011, and we exceeded our targets. In August, Bunge set more challenging goals to drive further improvement. We aim to achieve these goals over the period from July 2011 through December 2013.

Climate	Reduce our greenhouse gas emissions per ton of output by 5 percent.
Water	Reduce our water use per ton of output by 10 percent.
Waste	Reduce the total amount of material we send to landfills by 10 percent.

prior GOALS and PERFORMANCE

In 2009 we set the following global goals to reduce our emissions, water use and landfill waste by the end of 2010, using our 2008 performance as a baseline. Our actual performance is stated underneath each.

Climate	Goal:  Reduce our greenhouse gas emissions per ton of output by 1 percent. Actual:  A 2 percent* reduction in greenhouse gas emissions was achieved.
Water	Goal:   Reduce our water use per ton of output by 1 percent. Actual:  An 14 percent* reduction in water use was achieved.
Waste	Goal:   Reduce the total amount of material we send to landfills by 5 percent. Actual:  A 34 percent reduction in landfill waste was achieved.
