Bunge Dedicates The Richard G. Kerwin Center in Miami
On March 2, Bunge Limited Chairman and CEO Alberto Weisser dedicated The Richard G. Kerwin Center in Bunge Latin America's Miami office to honor Rick Kerwin for his distinguished service to the company. The room is logistically advantageous for Bunge's global meetings and also is used as a training center. Rick Kerwin's career at Bunge spanned three decades and is remarkable in many respects. He was instrumental in transforming Bunge North America (BNA) from primarily an export trading operation to an integrated asset-based business and in building Bunge's global grain business. "Rick was a key member of Bunge's leadership team for many years," said Alberto Weisser. "We owe a big part of our continued success in agribusiness to his good judgment and hard work." A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross and a former U.S. Navy officer, Rick began his career at Bunge in 1969, working initially as an auditor and quickly becoming a commodities trader. In 1983, he was named general manager of BNA's Grain Division and became an essential member of BNA's management. In 2002, he was appointed director, World Grain, for Bunge Global Markets, the forerunner of Bunge Global Agribusiness, and moved to Geneva to build Bunge's global grain business. Rick held that position until an injury suffered in 2006 led to his early retirement. He has since recovered and is living with his wife, Anita, in St. Louis.
